I have made six chronology pages that cover the entire time span of the project: year by year and sometimes a particular month in a year.  One can follow the chronology and gain a fairly good idea of the project's evolution. The chronologies include galleries of individual canvases, studios, and exhibitions. One can go to any of the individual galleries and then return to the chronology to continue on to the next step in the pieces evolution. For those who have the time I would recommend first reading OVERVIEW AND EXPLANATION OF DIE PLAGE, which goes in to great detail.  There is even more information regarding the work to be found in a long interview from 1996:  JOHN OXENDINE-HARLEY GABER INTERVIEW. One can click on any gallery, studio, or exhibition within the chronology structure to see more images of the work than are presented in the chronologies.  The evolution of the work will become clear if one moves straight through the chronologies.

The five galleries containing only single canvases as opposed to large configurations of canvases and eventually the mural section of the project (approximately its last 500 feet) were all made in the first two to three years of the project.  The project began with what is called SECTION II followed by sections III, IV and IA.  That stage of the project can be seen in the SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE INSTALLATION.  Following that installation I began what was really phase two of the project with what is called SECTION I.  This section began with single canvases and, as I have already noted, eventually expanded into the large configurations and finally the MURAL SECTION.  All of these various stages of the project can be seen in the LAB INSTALLATION, which was a survey of the entire project, as it existed in the fall of 2000. The work was completed in January of 2002.
